Transforming Spaces: Bright River Ltd’s Garden Makeover in North Finchley

About Bright River Ltd

Since our last feature with Bright River Ltd. Les and the team have been extremely busy working on a continual flow of decking projects with several large landscaping projects on the horizon.

Having recently become an approved installer for Millboard, involving a process of intense courses, practical installations and inspections, the team are never short of projects thanks to their precise workmanship and glowing recommendations.

When Les isn’t out managing his team, he continues to support his children’s charity ‘Hope for Nations’ which provides vital funds for a variety of projects in Uganda including the provision and implementation of solar equipment to power community buildings.

The requirements

This recent project takes on an impressive garden transformation in North Finchley using Antique Oak Millboard to extend a currently under-utilised and unloved garden.

Having been in the house for ten years, the owners felt a disconnect with the garden and the elevated small patio area meant they rarely sat outside. Existing views were blocked by an old conservatory and they were desperate for a larger, more practical space to enjoy.

The outcomes and results

Working to an initial brief, Les created a 3D design which he then refined following additional conversations with the owners.

Taking eight weeks to complete, Bright River Ltd. created an extended patio area using Millboard Antique Oak, giving the owners an additional 5 metres of space to the back of the house. Cascading steps were built to follow the profile of the deck with Millboard cladding detail on the front, and platformed areas were cleverly created to house large pots and plants. A glass balustrade was installed to optimise the view into the garden and lighting was fitted around the deck and within the steps.

A lot of initial work was needed to achieve the finished design, including digging out an old rockery and creating new foundations for the PlasPro Composite Posts which support the whole structure.

Another patio area also required work as there was little air flow and so a PlasPro subframe was installed.

UNDERTAKING THE PROJECT

BEFORE
AFTER

The owners were absolutely over the moon with the final transformation and said, “We are delighted with the job that they have done, from initial design to finished product, their approach and attention to detail is first class ensuring their finished design is extremely high quality. I’d have no hesitation in recommending Bright River Ltd. for a decking project – you won’t be disappointed.”
